Nice and quiet around here- just how I like it. No news is always good news. (:
Evy has been at home, playing with Stella, not feeling sick, and growing hair. I smile as I type. She has been out gallivanting with her girlfriends, able to travel to see family, and eating food and not vomiting. Hurrah! Chemo-free life is nice.
Next month we will travel to Alabama for stroke rehab/constraint induced therapy. My girl hasn't been able to use her right hand since she had her stroke in Nov of 2009. She has made strides towards recovery- what was once a completely limp arm and hand is now an arm that can move (cannot be raised above her head, has limited motion) and an arm and a hand that can bear weight. She has not been able to use her hand/fingers at all. Constraint induced therapy is the best thing out there, and we are going to where it was invented, to the program overseen by the inventor. If you're interested in reading about it, there is a great book called The Brain that Changes Itself that has a chapter devoted to the program. When I read about the man in his 60s who had a stroke when he was 8 and never used his hand again... only to have it start working after 3 weeks of therapy 60 years later, I get chills. I am banking on this and have been for some time, so hopefully we will see some progress. And then if we have to go back again and again to keep getting better and better, I am down for it.
We have our first post-chemo MRI on 2/22. I will post the results when we get them.
